Should I Be Nervous About a Neurodiversity Pre-Screening Interview?
If you’re wondering, “Should I be nervous about a neurodiversity pre-screening interview?”, there’s no need to worry. The session is held online, from the comfort and privacy of your home, allowing you to feel relaxed and at ease.
You’re free to take breaks whenever you need — it’s all about your comfort.
The environment is informal and friendly, not clinical, and designed to be an enjoyable experience.
For teenagers concerned about parental presence, parents do not need to stay for the entire session.
What Questions Are Asked During a Neurodiversity Pre-Assessment?
During the pre-assessment, the questions are conversational and focus on understanding your daily experiences.
Instead of formal testing, we use gentle conversation to highlight your strengths and identify areas where you may benefit from extra support.
This approach helps create a clear picture of your unique neurodiverse profile.
Is the Neurodiversity Pre-Assessment a Test? Will It Be Difficult?
The pre-assessment is not a test and isn’t meant to be difficult.
We don’t mark answers as right or wrong — especially when discussing topics like maths or English. The goal is to find out where extra help could be useful, not to judge your skills.
We understand that talking about challenges can sometimes feel uncomfortable, so we usually discuss emotions towards the end of the session to help you feel more comfortable.
If preferred, parents can step out during this part, and we can explore emotions in other ways if that suits you better.
What Happens After the Neurodiversity Pre-Assessment?
After the session, I prepare a detailed and clear report based on what we discussed.
If additional information from your school is needed, I will request it at this stage.
Parents receive a draft of the report first to review, and then it’s shared with any other individuals they choose.
