Neurodiversity Pre-Screening: What to Expect
Calm, person-centred sessions designed to bring clarity and confidence.
Neurodiversity Pre-Screen Assessments

I’m so glad you’ve found your way here , and thank you for reaching out to explore support for your child. At Neurodiversity Support, we know how worrying it can be when your child feels anxious, frustrated, or is struggling at school. It can be overwhelming trying to understand what’s really going on and that’s exactly where we can help.

Understanding Your Child, Together

I offer specialist Pre-Screen Assessments and Coaching for children (and adults) with ADHD, Autism (ASC), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Sensory Processing differences, and other neurodevelopmental profiles.
Our goal is simple: to understand your child’s unique strengths and challenges, and to begin putting the right support in place both at home and in school.
Feeling Nervous About a Pre-Screening?
You’re not alone and there’s absolutely no need to worry.
Many parents and young people feel anxious before a neurodiversity pre-assessment, especially if school or previous experiences have felt stressful. Our sessions are designed to be the complete opposite of that calm, friendly, and supportive.
What to Expect

Our online pre-assessment sessions are informal and completely tailored to you.

-
Children and teens can join from the comfort and safety of their own home, where they feel most relaxed.
-
Adults can attend individually or with a supporter or family member present, whatever feels right for you.
We always move at your pace, with breaks whenever needed.
There are no tests, no grading, and no judgement, just a relaxed, compassionate conversation to help us understand your unique experiences, strengths, and challenges.
Our goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported from the very start.

Why This Approach Works

Many families tell us that this is the first time they’ve felt truly listened to.
Because our assessments are based on real conversation and observation, rather than tick-box questionnaires, they give a genuine picture of your child’s (or your own) everyday experiences, which helps build a clearer path forward for school support, EHCP evidence, or home strategies.
If you’ve ever worried about your child “failing” an assessment, rest assured, that can’t happen here.
Every session is about understanding, not judgement.
Your Journey, Step by Step
(Simple, supportive, and stress-free)
1. Easy Online Booking

-
Once you’re ready to begin, booking your Pre-Screen Assessment is simple.
After payment, you’ll receive a secure booking link to choose a day and time that works best for you and your family.

2. Consent & Initial Questions

-
We gather just the right amount of background information to help tailor your session.
-
For children: Both parents (with parental responsibility) complete a short consent form and background questionnaire.
-
For adults: You’ll be asked a few simple questions about your history, current experiences, and goals for the session.
-
This ensures your assessment is fully personalised from the start.

3. The Pre-Screening Session

-
This is where the magic happens, a relaxed, conversation-based online assessment exploring strengths, challenges, daily routines, and lived experiences.
-
Children: Informal, light educational activities in maths, English, and writing may be used to understand learning styles and attention. Parents are welcome to join and may be invited to speak privately during the session.
-
Adults: A guided discussion focused on your everyday experiences, challenges, and supports.
-
There are no tests, no pressure, and no judgement, just a genuine, supportive conversation.

4. Optional School Input

-
With your consent, I can contact your child’s school or SENCO to gather additional insight.
This helps ensure the full picture of your child’s needs is understood and that recommendations align with classroom realities, particularly useful for EHCP evidence or school-based support plans.

5. Report Writing & Review

-
Within 2–3 working days, you’ll receive a draft professional report summarising observations, insights, and tailored recommendations.
-
Adults can review and request edits before finalisation.
-
Once finalised, the report can be shared (with your permission only) with schools, GPs, or other professionals to support applications, referrals, or coaching.
-
Your final report is written to professional standards, suitable for EHCP applications, school SEN support, or use as evidence where a full diagnosis is not required or desired.
Common Questions
1. What is a Pre-Screen Assessment?

A Pre-Screen Assessment is a detailed, conversation-based session designed to explore potential signs of ADHD, Autism (ASC), and other neurodevelopmental differences.
It’s ideal for families who want to understand their child’s strengths, challenges, and needs, without necessarily pursuing a medical or clinical diagnosis.
You’ll receive a professional written report with insights and recommendations that can be used to guide school support, coaching, or evidence for EHCP applications.

2. Who is the Pre-Assessment suitable for?

Our neurodiversity pre-assessments are suitable for children, teenagers, and adults who may be showing traits linked to ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Sensory Processing differences, or emotional regulation challenges.
Many families choose this route when their child is struggling at school or home, and they are in a very long waiting list for NHS services or they don’t want a diagnostic label, they simply want understanding and support in place.

3. Can I use the Pre-Screen if I don’t want a diagnosis?

Absolutely. Many parents come to us because they want support for their child without pursuing a formal diagnosis.
Our Pre-Screen Assessment focuses on understanding behaviour, learning needs, and emotional well-being, rather than attaching labels.
The report provides professional evidence that can be shared with schools, SENCOs, GPs, or local authorities to help secure the right support and adjustments, even without a medical diagnosis.

4. Can the report be used for school support or an EHCP application?

Yes. The Pre-Screen Report is written in a professional format suitable for educational and legal use.
It can be shared with schools, SENCOs, Educational Psychologists, or Local Authority SEND teams as part of EHCP evidence or requests for reasonable adjustments.
It’s a powerful way to get the right help in place for your child, even if you’re not ready, or don’t wish, to pursue a clinical diagnosis.

5. How long does the assessment take?

Each Pre-Screen Assessment lasts around 2.5 hours and takes place online. It’s a relaxed, friendly session involving adults who know your child best, and includes light, engaging activities to help build a full picture of your child’s profile. The pre-assessment also involves reading through any past documents and speaking with any other professionals as and when necessary.

6. Is the assessment held online or in person?

Most assessments are held online via a secure video link. This allows your child to join from the comfort of their own home, where they feel most relaxed and open. Online assessments are equally effective and particularly beneficial for anxious or sensory-sensitive children.

7. What’s included in the report?

You’ll receive a comprehensive written report detailing observations around:
-
ADHD and attention profiles
-
Autism and social communication
-
Learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia)
-
Sensory processing
-
Emotional regulation and executive function
The report also includes practical recommendations for home and school, and guidance for EHCP applications, GP referrals, or coaching.

8. How much does the Pre-Screen Assessment cost?

The Pre-Assessment service costs £550 (no VAT).
Flexible payment options are available through Klarna, allowing you to spread the cost in a way that suits your family.

9. Is this a formal diagnosis?

No, the Pre-Screen Assessment is not a clinical diagnosis.
Instead, it provides professional insight and evidence to help you understand your child’s needs and access the right support.
If a diagnosis is later wanted, I can refer you to a trusted ADHD specialist paediatrician or autism diagnostic service.

10. Do you offer follow-up support after the assessment?

Yes. I offer ADHD and neurodiversity coaching for children, parents, and families. Coaching helps you put the report’s recommendations into action, improving confidence, communication, and emotional well-being at home and school.

11. How do I book a Pre-Screen Assessment?

You can book directly through the website and choose a time that suits you. You can also use the contact form or by emailing kelly@neurodiversitysupport.co.uk.
I’ll respond personally to arrange a suitable time and explain the next steps.

Your Report: Next Steps
Once your Pre-Screen Assessment Report is finalised, it becomes a powerful tool for understanding and support, not just a document.

-
You can use your report to:
-
Support further diagnostic assessments
Provide clear, professional evidence to share with trusted ADHD specialist paediatricians, autism diagnostic teams, or other clinicians if you wish to pursue a full diagnosis later. -
Inform EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) applications
Use the report as professional evidence of need when requesting an EHCP assessment or appealing for additional school support. It outlines your child’s strengths, challenges, and recommended interventions in accessible, educational language. -
Guide schools or SEN teams
Share the report with your child’s school SENCO, class teacher, or support staff to help them understand your child’s learning profile, communication style, and sensory needs. This ensures appropriate strategies, adjustments, and wellbeing support are in place. -
Provide valuable insights to GPs, therapists, and other professionals
The report can be used to support referrals to CAMHS, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, or mental health services. It helps professionals see the full picture and coordinate effective, joined-up support.
